Palm Beach Dramaworks to Present THE MOST HAPPY FELLA in Concert, 7/18-27

Love blooms in Napa Valley for an aging, unprepossessing grape farmer and a young, world-weary waitress in Frank Loesser's achingly romantic The Most Happy Fella, opening Friday, July 18 (8pm) at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre. William Michals, who triumphed in the title role of last season's Man of La Mancha, returns to Palm Beach Dramaworks to play the Italian immigrant farmer Tony Esposito in this concert production. The show, which runs through July 27, is directed by Clive Cholerton, with musical direction by Howard Breitbart. (more...)

NYMF to Stage Reading of IDAHO!, 4/25

Theatre professionals who missed IDAHO! at NYMF will have an opportunity to see it in staged reading this Friday, April 25th only. The new musical, named 'Best of Fest' was met with cascades of laughter during its sold-out run, prompting the festival to add extra performances. The show has been described as "a rollicking satire that takes the sexually-charged subtext of the classic musical and puts it front and center." Last night at New York City's Pierre Hotel, the National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) honored Tony and Emmy Award Winning singer and actress Kristin Chenoweth, and the Edgerton Foundation for their leadership in the arts at the NCTF 2014 Chairman's Awards Gala. The evening included a special performance by Tony Award Winner Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham, stars of the current hit musical A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder; an excerpt from the highly acclaimed show Witness Uganda, currently at A.R.T. (an NCTF member theatre); and an appearance by legendary comedian Lily Tomlin, currently on tour with a solo show. Carly Rae Jepsen and Fran Drescher Extend Run in CINDERELLA Through 6/8

The two newest stars of the Tony Award-winning musical CINDERELLA on Broadway - Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen and the Emmy-nominated Fran Drescher - will extend their engagements in the hit musical several more weeks through June 8, it has been announced by producers Robyn Goodman, Jill Furman and Stephen Kocis. The two stars - both of whom have made their Broadway debuts as Cinderella and her wicked stepmother, respectively - were originally scheduled to conclude their runs in CINDERELLA next month. On the eve of Valentine's Day, Kara Lindsay, currently starring in Disney's 'Newsies' on Broadway, was joined on-stage by her husband Kevin Massey (Memphis), her college best friend Kirsten Scott (Big Fish), Santino Fontana ('Frozen'), his girlfriend Jessica Hershberg (Cinderella), Drew Gehling (Jersey Boys), his wife Sara Jean Ford (The Phantom of the Opera), Patrick Cummings (Happiness), his girlfriend, Alessa Neeck (Cinderella), Thea Brooks (Dirty Dancing), and musical director Benjamin Rauhala (Hit List) in a celebration of Broadway romance, both on and off-stage. The evening will also feature bluegrass trio 'Shubert Alley,' featuring Kevin Massey, his brother Patrick Massey, and Jamison Scott (Spider-Man). Also featured in the concert were Aaron Albano (Newsies), Stephen Joshua Thompson, Antwayn Hopper (Hair), and Devin Ilaw (Les Miserables). In 2011, BroadwayWorld reported that Brian Hargrove and Barbara Anselmi's new musical IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU, directed by David Hyde Pierce in its world premiere at the George Street Playhouse that year, would be coming to Broadway. It's been a much longer wait than anticipated, but now Pierce has revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the show is prepping for arrival on the Great White Way 'in the coming season or early next year'. Breaking News: Broadway's CINDERELLA Announces Casting Update: Joe Carroll to Succeed Santino Fontana, Victoria Clark Will Return

The producers of the hit musical CINDERELLA on Broadway announce new cast members who will join the company in the coming weeks: starting January 28, Joe Carroll begins performances as Prince Topher, taking over the role from original cast member and Tony Award nominee Santino Fontana, who concludes his year-long run in the musical. Also beginningJanuary 28, Todd Buonopane will replace original cast member Greg Hildreth as the rebel Jean-Michel; and CINDERELLA ensemble member Stephanie Gibson will replace Marla Mindelle as stepsister Gabrielle. On January 21, Tony Award winner Victoria Clark will return as Cinderella's Fairy Godmother Marie, which she originated and for which she received a Tony Award nomination.
