Maude Maggart, Frank DeCaro, Ryan O'Connor & More Join THE MEETING* this Weekend

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show, will return to THE BOOTLEG THEATER on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26 at 7:30 PM. After extended runs at 54 Below and Joe's Pub in New York, the show recently made its Los Angeles debut and is back for two more performances. The Meeting* has been called "delicious and delightfully droll" by The New York Post, and "hilarious and sardonic" by The Village Voice. A recent story for Slate.com called the evening "so deliciously icy that it left me shivering with fear and delight." The Friday night show will feature special guests Maude Maggart (award-winning vocalist), Frank DeCaro (Sirius XM Radio), Ryan O'Connor and Jason Powell ("Tell All with Ryan O'Connor"). The Saturday show will feature special guests Frank DeCaro (Sirius XM Radio), Scout Durwood (comedienne and chanteuse) and Rikki Bones (acclaimed rapper), with others to be announced. (more...)

As one of the largest theatrical events in the world, The New York International Fringe Festival boasts an impressive roster of world premieres yearly. Of them, Los Angeles native Joshua Metzger's new play Sitting Shiva will see its first three dimensional presentation this August. Christopher Scott will direct the 90 minute play. The Broadway and Regional vet cast includes Eddie Boroevich*, Neal Mayer*, and Jeffery Plunkett*. The Production Stage Manager is Katy Moore*, and the production will be designed by Joan Racho-Jansen. *Appearing courtesy of Actors' Equity Association. Sitting Shiva is an AEA-approved showcase. DRAGON'S BREATH premieres at the 18th Annual New York International Fringe Festival on August 9th. Playwright, Michael C. O'Day makes his writing debut with this production. As an actor, he has appeared at the Public Theatre, Classical Theatre of Harlem, and the Paper Mill Playhouse, among other venues - most recently Judson Arts in the acclaimed revival of The Bonus Army. Axis Company has announced its 2014-15 season, which will feature a number of world premieres, as well as the return of its beloved family holiday show Seven In One Blow, or The Brave Little Kid. The season begins with the world premiere of Axis Company Artist Director Randy Sharp's new musical Triangle Fire, part of the second annual Theater:Village festival, which is co-presented by Cherry Lane Theatre, New Ohio Theatre and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. Entitled E Pluribus, the festival will feature four new plays celebrating the diversity of America, running from September 3-October 5. (more...)

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE) Chicago's only Equity theatre devoted to the work of women theatre artists, and Artistic Director Tara Mallen are proud to announce the extension of the Chicago premiere of Courtney Baron's Eat Your Heart Out, directed by Hallie Gordon, through July 12 at Rivendell's performance venue, 5779 N. Ridge Ave. The performance schedule is Wednesday - Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays at 4 and 8 p.m. Please note: there are no performances Friday, July 4 or Saturday, July 5. The running time is approximately 80 minutes with no intermission. SWINGTIME CANTEEN to Open 7/4 at Cherry Lane Studio Theatre

SWINGTIME CANTEEN, a musical by Linda Thorsen Bond, William Repicci, and Charles Busch, will open July 4th for a limited run at the Cherry Lane Studio Theatre. This five woman musical takes place on stage at a concert for the Eighth U.S. Air Force in 1944 and pays tribute to the USO and all of the wonderful vintage classics from that time. SWINGTIME CANTEEN plans to assist service members who have been injured in the line of duty. Some proceeds from the show will be donated to the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), and will support a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families.
