The Friends of Mounts Botanical Garden hosted the inaugural Hearts-n-Bloom Garden Tea Party last Saturday, attracting more than 150 beautifully clad ladies and gents. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Ricky Nelson is the only artist to have a No. 1 song, No. 1 movie and No. 1 TV show in the same week. Life Magazine coined the phrase 'Teen Idol' after him and he is credited with pioneering the country rock sound.  On New Year's Eve 1986, Nelson died in a plane crash on his way to a performance, leaving behind a musical legacy that includes 53 hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and nineteen other top-ten hits.  On Thursday, April 13th at 8 p.m., Ricky Nelson's twin sons; multi-platinum recording artists in their own right, will relive the music and memories of their father at The Ridgefield Playhouse with Ricky Nelson Remembered Featuring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson - part of the Pepsi Rock Series Powered by xfinity.  (more...)

The Central Works 2016 Season closing production of Karen Zacarias' a new play Into the Beautiful North, has extended and must close November 20 (originally scheduled to close Nov. 13). Central Works' first partnership with the National New Play Network was met with a tremendous response from the press and audiences alike. Described at its premiere as possessing the "alchemy of inspired satire, turned into a laugh-filled theatrical experience" and "never allowing the humor to blind us to the plight of its characters...".  Into the Beautiful North is based on the novel by Pulitzer Prize finalist Luis Alberto Urrea and inspired by the classic Hollywood western The Magnificent Seven.
