BIO
Tom Bosley was a beloved American actor best known for his role as Howard Cunningham on the hit TV show "Happy Days." Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1927, Bosley began his career in entertainment as a radio announcer before transitioning to stage and screen.
Bosley's Broadway career began in 1959 when he starred in the musical "Fiorello!" which earned him a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He went on to appear in several other Broadway productions including "Nowhere to Go But Up," "A Joyful Noise," and "The Education of H*Y*M*A*N K*A*P*L*A*N."
In addition to his success on Broadway, Bosley also had a prolific career in television and film. He appeared in numerous TV shows throughout his career including "The Dean Martin Show," "Murder, She Wrote," and "The Love Boat." However, it was his role as Howard Cunningham on "Happy Days" that made him a household name. The show ran from 1974-1984 and Bosley appeared in all 255 episodes.
Bosley's film career was equally impressive. He appeared in over 50 films throughout his career including "Love with the Proper Stranger," "Yours, Mine and Ours," and "The World of Henry Orient." He also provided the voice of Harry Boyle in the animated TV series "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home."
Bosley's talent extended beyond acting. He was also an accomplished singer and released several albums throughout his career. In 1971, he released a Christmas album titled "A Bosley Christmas" which featured him singing classic holiday songs.
Bosley was a beloved figure in the entertainment industry and was known for his warm personality and kind heart. He was also a devout Catholic and served as a spokesperson for the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights.
In his later years, Bosley continued to work in television and film. He appeared in several TV movies including "The Father Dowling Mysteries" and "The Secret Life of Algernon." He also provided the voice of Mayor Thomas in the animated TV series "The Tangerine Bear."
Tom Bosley passed away on October 19, 2010 at the age of 83.
