Dancer Popra Nakayama to Star in THE LITTLE MERMAID

Popra Nakayama is a dancer, actor, singer and choreographer. She has studied at HB studio and Ballet Academy East in NYC. She also trains in martial arts such as Muay Thai and Samurai Swordsmanship. Her Off Broadway Credits include: Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and Sleepy Hollow. Popra has also performed at Carnegie Hall and presented her original dance performances as a co-director/choreographer/dancer at United Nations Headquarters.

The off Broadway production, "The Little Mermaid" is currently running in New York City. The musical adaptation of this classic tale by Hans Christian Andersen, with books and lyrics by Brenda Bell and music by Michael Sgouros at the Players Theatre in Manhattan.

Hailing from Japan, the fresh and charismatic Popra Nakayama plays several crucial roles in the play: as a comical, swashbuckling sailor; as a luscious, whimsical mermaid; and as a dangerous, malevolent sea serpent. All together, she captivates the audience, stirring them to great emotion, and getting them to really sympathize with the story. Indeed, Ms. Nakayana's stage presence might what you would simply call, undeniable.

"The Little Mermaid" runs from February 26th through April 23rd on Saturdays (3p) and Sundays (11a), with additional dates. The pre-show workshop begins one hour prior to each performance.
