Century21 Heading to Philadelphia
The department store Century 21, where you can always find a great bargain on designer items, is opening in Philadelphia. This will be the first time the company will open outside the New York market.
The retailer is taking over the vacant Strawbridge's building at The Gallery on Market Street, which is being redeveloped by Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust. The store will be 100,000 square feet and will open in the fall.
PREIT's hopes that their vision for The Gallery at Market East will help renovate the City Center retail complex, which lives in the heart of Philadelphia. "With this transaction, our vision to create Philadelphia's only transit-oriented, retail-anchored multiuse property offering accessible luxury retailing and artisan food is becoming a reality," Joseph F. Coradino, chief executive officer of PREIT, told WWD. "Century 21 is the ideal brand to change the retail landscape of this city and attract new shoppers to the Market East corridor and more exceptional first-to-the-region retailers to the project."
Raymond Gindi, ceo of Century 21 Department Store commented, "This move represents an important time for Century 21 Department Store as we continue to grow our brand and expand throughout the East Coast."
