Groundbreak Exhibit Officially Open to the Public

Saturday, November 19, 2011, Groundbreak, the inaugural exhibition's opening was a success, great conversations about the alley's history, the old neighborhood, new art, new connections and community spirit.

Long-time Lower East Side resident, Steven Stoppert commented about the artwork during the first day of Jon Burgerman's installation, "We need more art. The neighborhood needs this."

Anthony Rotella, General Manager of Veselka described our collaborative effort best, "What a great opportunity for us to rally together as a community of businesses and honor and rejoice in the arts."

Artist Alley @ Extra Place is officially open to the public, please visit or re-visit the site. For further inquiries, feel free to contact Joyce Manalo, ArtUp Curator who is the artists, curators, FABnyc, AvalonBay Communities, Inc., its residents, retailers and Lower East Side residents liaison.
