Cafe Edison is officially closing in December!

NYC landmark Cafe Edison is officially closing and BroadwayWorld just received the official statement from the Hotel Edison general manager on the matter.

The official statement from Richard Hotter, general manager of Hotel Edison, is as follows: "For over thirty years, Hotel Edison and its ownership has enjoyed a wonderful, productive relationship with the Edison Cafe. We can confirm that the Café is closing as the hotel prepares to upgrade and restore the space. In the coming months, we are excited to reveal further details about our plans for this iconic location."

UPDATE: An exact closing date has not yet been determined at this time, but an official representative informs us that it will be at the end of December.

Of note, Cafe Edison has been a hotspot for show business professionals for more than 30 years.

Additionally, following early reports on the closure a grassroots peition to save the Cafe Edison has been established, available here. As of Thursday night, more than 750 signatures had been added.
