Sean Patrick Doyle joins 20th Century Fox film The Sitter
Sean Patrick Doyle, who currently appears as Chantal the Songbird in the Tony-winning revival of La Cage Aux Folles, has joined the cast of David Gordon Green's "The Sitter." Doyle will appear opposite Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane) and Jonah Hill ("Superbad" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall") in the 20th Century Fox film.
Hill stars as a college dropout who is asked to babysit three rambunctious children, only to have things go terribly wrong when he gets involved with an eccentric drug dealer played by Rockwell. Doyle plays Rockwell's dim-witted, roller-skating toadie Garv. Broadway vet Ari Graynor (The Little Dog Laughed and Brooklyn Boy) also appears as Hill's indifferent girlfriend.
The film is currently shooting in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and is scheduled for release in July 2011.
Doyle originated the role of Loki in Tarell McCraney's Wig Out! at Off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre, under the direction of Tina Landau. He broke tradition as the first countertenor to portray the role of Fruma-Sarah, in the North American tour of Fiddler on the Roof opposite Topol, Theodore Bikel, and Harvey Fierstein. International credits include a year-long run as Baby John in the Asian and European tours of West Side Story and the Asian tour of Fame: the Musical. Doyle's television appearances include "Law and Order," and "The Kennedy Center Honors," at the John F. Kennedy Center where he has performed in numerous concerts and operas.
Rockwell appeared Off-Broadway in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot and Goose-Pimples, and onscreen in "Iron Man 2," "Conviction," "The Assassination of Jesse James...," "Frost/Nixon," "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," among others.
