When Josh Daniel Green took the stage for his Christmas day performance of Wicked, the last thing he thought he'd have after the performance was a shiny new ring.

"At first, I was completely shocked, but as soon as he started to speak I knew what was coming - it just felt right," Green told BroadwayWorld. "After saying 'yes,' I was on a high! It took quite a few moments for it to sink in."

Green's then boyfriend, Daniel Robinson, proposed to Green right on stage after the curtain call. Robinson had already arranged with the theatre to don a flying monkey costume- matching Green's end-of-show costume- and surprise Green with the proposal after the curtain went down on Christmas day, 2015. With the whole cast gathered to take a cast photo after the performance, Robinson grabbed Green's hand and stepped downstage to pop the question.

"I originally had the idea of proposing to him at curtain call a year ago when he made his Broadway debut," shares Robinson. "Then a few months later, I contacted the 'Wonderful Management of Wicked' and they graciously made the appropriate arrangements to make the magic happen." Robinson went all out, making every possible arrangement to construct a perfect day. "I flew in his family from Minnesota for Christmas, had a fitting for a monkey suit, and got a ring. Then when Christmas arrived we watched the first act, I dressed up during Intermission, and hid backstage - avoiding Josh until Curtain Call. Then he said 'yes'!"

Though the elaborate operation was executed very smoothly, Robinson still had butterflies in his stomach in the moment and had his doubts about being able to speak clearly through all his emotion.

"What was going through my mind honestly was, 'Just keep talking.' If I stopped I would probably cry, which would make him cry, and then the company would cry." Robinson adds jokingly, "Then the show would go over the three hour mark, the union would get fined, Josh would get fired, and we would be homeless. No. [laughs] But seriously. I thought - 'Just look at him, speak, and it will be okay.'"

Robinson's careful planning worked flawlessly, completely blind-siding Green. "I had no idea it was coming! Ever since the Supreme Court decision this past summer paving the way for couples across the country, we had started to talk and dream a bit more about our future," Green gushes.

Initially, the pair met through showbusiness, both working on a film project for a mutual friend.

"[Green] was rehearsing for a friend of our's show, dancing. I have a production company, and I was filming the process," Robinson shares. After seeing Green dance, Robinson felt mesmerized (Watch the video here!). "He's the most brilliant dancer I have ever seen - I was hooked. We're both lucky enough to have our first words and interactions on film."

So what's next for these lovebirds? Green says there's no rush with the wedding, but a celebratory vacation is in the near future. "No wedding plans to report yet- we want to take our time planning. We haven't had a grand celebration yet, but we have a vacation already on the books this month, so we'll be able to relax and celebrate then!"
