Aurora Children's Playhouse to Present THE CAT IN THE HAT & More this Winter

Aurora Theatre assembles the best children's performers in the region, bringing them to Gwinnett County for the series Aurora Children's Playhouse. During the colder months parents are often looking for exciting indoor activities for the family and Aurora Children's Playhouse provides amazing performances for families with young children.

Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat is Aurora Learning Library's winter show that will be performed weekday mornings as a field trip for over 7,000 elementary school students. On Saturday, January 25, families will have two chances to see the fully produced stage version of The Cat in the Hat, based on the book by Dr. Seuss, the play originally produced by The National Theatre of Great Britain. From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and craziest of ideas, he is certainly fun to play with. And he turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure. But what will Mom find when she gets home...? The play is directed by Jaclyn Hofmann, Aurora Theatre Director of Education and features a cast of eight actors and puppeteers.

There will be big fun with science on February 1, as Big Thinkers Science Exploration returns to Aurora with It's Electric!, an exciting exploration of electricity and heat! There will be shocking discoveries and answers kids' burning scientific questions like, "What is electricity?" Watch the Big Thinkers experiment with a 50,000 volt Tesla Coil, hand's-on audience participation with a hair-raising electrostatic generator, an indoor lightning strike and an experiment with levitation using the "FunFlyStick" and static electricity are a part of this action packed show. The entire family will enjoy this electrifying experience.

On February 8, celebrity children's author and singing storyteller Eric Litwin-Author of the first four Pete the Cat picture books returns for his annual visit to Aurora Theatre. Get ready to sing, dance, laugh and fall in love with books. Mr. Eric's dynamic performances are fully interactive. He plays many instruments including the guitar and harmonica. Mr. Eric shares musical stories that inspire and delight the listener. He loves to perform and gives over a hundred performances every year. He has played at Lincoln Center as well as schools and libraries across the country. Children often come up on stage and sing. Mr. Eric will share Pete the Cat stories from his New York Times #1 Best-selling Pete the Cat book series.

Aurora Children's Playhouse features the region's top children's performers, including: puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experiences. At about 45 minutes in length, perfect for the young attention span, these lively performances are fun for the whole family. Due to the popularity of these titles Aurora Children's Playhouse has expanded the schedule. This January and February performances are held on Saturday mornings at 10 & 11:30AM unless otherwise noted. All tickets $7, Reservations Recommended.
