In Clay is an American premiere musical set in 1930s Paris that tells the story of Marie-Berthe Cazin, an overlooked female artist. As she prepares for a visit from her estranged childhood friend, Cazin reflects on her journey from a gifted protégé to a sidelined artist whose work has been claimed by her husband. With a vibrant jazz score by Jack Miles and book and lyrics by Rebecca Simmonds, the musical explores themes of creativity, identity, and resilience amid the backdrop of World War I.
