(Chicago Reader). Airness is a regional premiere co-production with Keegan Theatre. by BWW News Desk - November 27, 2019
Join the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future as they lead the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge on a journey of transformation and redemption. Originally conceived by Michael Baron, this music-infused production captures the magic and joy of Dickens's Yuletide classic. Acclaimed actor Craig Wallace returns to play Ebenezer Scrooge in a production heralded as a “rich visual and vocal treat” (TheaterMania) and “infectiously jolly” (Washington Post).

BWW Review: THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE at Imagination Stage
by Rachael Goldberg - November 27, 2019
Imagination Stage has revived their Helen Hayes Award-winning 2012 production of 'The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe' for the 2019 holiday season. With stunning sets and engaging musical elements, it's not hard to see why this production is a local favorite. The show takes a well-known tale and retells with the fun creativity of a children's production, but with the sensibilities that play to adults' nostalgia.

BWW Review: At the Kennedy Center, Chandrika Tandon's SHIVOHAM--THE QUEST a Fascinating Musical, Spiritual Oratorio
by Andrew White - November 24, 2019
Chandrika Tandon's song-cycle, Shivoyam-The Quest, which recently touched down at the Eisenhower Theater at the Kennedy Center, is part oratorio, part jam session, part spectacle, and organized around the many steps to enlightenment she experienced. It's not prescriptive-not a 'how to' manual, as much as a travelogue, with a number of beautiful stops along the way.
BWW Review: LATIN HISTORY FOR MORONS at The National
by Russell Smouse - November 22, 2019
John Leguizamo, as I learned, is modern theatre's most prolific latinx playwright. While 'Latin History for Morons' is not his first play written on the subject of latinx people in America, It certainly seems to take on a presence of its own. The show does not seem as if it is the same ideas showcased in his previous works written into another script. Leguizamo gives his intimate insight into the life of being a latinx person in America who grew up in a rough part of New York and only wants his son to have a better childhood than he had. Throughout the show, Leguizamo uses his relationship with his son to convey how somebody deals with aggressions and microaggressions in their daily life. The show is a history lesson for the audience and serves to inform the audience of a subject matter they may not be privy to.

BWW Review: THE VELVETEEN RABBIT at Adventure Theatre
by Jane Horwitz - November 20, 2019
This veddy British tale of the undying love between a child and her lop-eared, sawdust-filled velveteen rabbit is a storybook treat to look at --  pretty enough to honor the classic children's book on which it is based and well played by a cast adept at posh British accents and lots of hopping.

BWW Review: RENT at National Theatre
by Sophie Williams - November 19, 2019
For those who have been paying attention for the last 20-ish years, RENT was/is a pretty big deal. The rock opera adaptation of Puccini's La Boheme follows a group of young creatives in New York City during the AIDS crisis and was so popular during its initial run that it racked up multiple awards, including 3 Tonys and a Pulitzer. With that in mind, I believe it to be a very daunting task to perform RENT because it's easy to go through the motions and sing the songs that people know and love without really having to think about it. That being said, there were many moments where they got it right and others that might've fallen a little flat.
BWW Review: HARD TIMES at Washington Stage Guild
by Roger Catlin - November 19, 2019
If Charles Dickens were working today, he'd likely be enlisted to write for one of the serialized television dramas on which millions feed on and binge. In his day, the equivalent was writing serialized dramas for publication to boost readership.

For Director Richard Clifford, Amadeus is more than just a modern classic; it is also a story of friendship. His relationship with the play goes beyond the Folger and directing this production, but back to England and the play's author, Peter Shaffer.
