North America's Largest Busker Festival Returns for 12th Year 8/25-28
Scotiabank BuskerFest, North America's largest street performer festival, will bring more than 100 top street performers from Canada and around the world to Toronto's historic St. Lawrence Market district for a wild weekend of fun for all ages from August 25 to August 28.
In its 12th year, the event raises much needed funds for Epilepsy Toronto, and promises an amazing assortment of daredevils, magicians, high skill circus acts, comedians, musicians, clowns, contortionists, acrobats, aerialists, fire-breathers, extreme pogo-ers and more. Scotiabank BuskerFest was awarded 'Top 100 Festival' achievement by the Festivals and Events Ontario Association again this year. This year's festival features new acts from Argentina, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and more, including:
-Mr. Toons (Denmark): The Professional Idiot unicycles, juggles, and squeezes his body into a giant balloon;
-Gazzo (UK): The legendary street magician has been mixing comedy, magic and British charm for over 30 years;
-Leapin' Louie Lichtenstein (US): Oregon's most explosive Lithuanian Jewish cowboy combines physical comedy, improv and world-class lasso tricks;
-The Chairmen (Canada): Alberta's chair-juggling duo offer a truly chair-raising experience; and
-Pancho Libre (Mexico): astounds audiences with his mind-boggling feats; circus, fire, martial arts and a high-flying human flag!
Returning Scotiabank BuskerFest favourites include:
-FlameOz (Australia): These fire dancers perform a multi award-winning, tightly-choreographed, action-packed fire spectacle;
-Stunt Double Circus (US/Canada): The circus-comedy foursome performs death-defying, world record-breaking stunts, all while sporting killer moustaches;
-Bendy Em (UK): The pint-sized contortionist comically bends her body into freakily mind-boggling positions and fits herself into a 16" plexiglass box;
-Fireguy (Canada): This festival regular mixes circus and fire tricks and skateboard stunts for the skatest show on earth!

-Novotel Toronto Centre (45 The Esplanade) is the official host hotel for Scotiabank BuskerFest. Located just one block away from the festival, the hotel is located at 45 The Esplanade and offers a special room rate starting at $149 per night, if booked before July 26, 2011.
-The Strathcona Hotel Downtown Toronto (60 York St.reet) is offering a special rate for Scotiabank BuskerFest attendees of $125 for SMART Twin rooms; $135 for SMART Queen rooms and Executive level rooms starting at $155, if booked by August 4th, 2011.
