What did our critic think of LA BOHEME IN CINEMAS at Cinemas Across The UK?

One of the world’s most beloved operas, La Bohème, is coming to cinemas on 3rd March 2026, reimagined for modern-day London in a new adaptation from writer and director Robin Norton-Hale.

Waterperry Opera Festival has unveiled its full programme for the 2026 Festival. The festival returns this summer under the new leadership of Artistic Director and CEO John Savournin. 

Herbert Ross’ production of Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème currently being presented by LA Opera has everything an audience venturing to the opera could hope for. When the curtain rises on Gerard Howland’s beautifully-textured scenery, one is instantly transported to a brutally cold winter scene speckled with the soft, orange glow tantalizingly emanating from windows.

Portland Opera will present Puccini’s La Bohème November 15–23, 2025, at Keller Auditorium. Directed by Cara Consilvio and starring Hope Briggs and Alok Kumar.

The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season continues with Puccini’s La Bohème on Saturday, November 8, at 1 p.m. ET, transmitted live to cinemas worldwide.

PucciniAs the nights draw in, it seems highly appropriate to return to Glyndebourne for the start of its Autumn season and the chilly streets of Puccini’s La bohème. Floris Visser’s production, beautifully revived by Rachael Hewer, has the spectre of death ever-present. In this case, quite literally as a pale man dressed in black (Christopher Lemmings) appears to stalk Mimì, making her fate even more inevitable than usual.

What did our critic think of SAN DIEGO OPERA PRESENTS LA BOHÈME at San Diego Civic Center? San Diego Opera celebrated the opening of its 60th season with Giacomo Puccini’s La bohème, the same opera the company staged to open its first season. Its magnificent melodies, a touchingly tragic love story, and arias that are among the most beautiful ever written have made it one of the world’s most performed operas for many years, an obvious choice for attracting audiences and donors. The story begins in a bohemian Parisian garret where Rodolfo, a young writer, rooms with a painter, a musician and a philosopher. Money is scarce, and the only source of heat is a small stove. With no wood left to burn, Rodolfo begins to use pages from the manuscript of a play he’s writing for what few moments of heat they can provide. When the flames die down a roommate comments, “It opened and closed on the same night.”

The snowfall in Act III of Franco Zeffirelli’s staging of Puccini’s La Bohème is one of the most breathtaking moments on the Met stage. Go behind the scenes and watch how the Met Stagehands make the magic happen.

Directed by John Caird and, for this revival, Katherine M. Carter, the production featured a talented cast of emerging opera stars, Studio Artists (many of whom were in featured roles), additional chorus members and the Children’s Chorus of Washington. This large cast filled the stage with excitement, love, and ultimately profound grief.

Riverside Theatres and Opera Australia will present one of the world’s favourite operas, Puccini’s La Bohème, a captivating story of young Bohemian love at Riverside Theatres Paramatta on Saturday 24th August. 

The first act of Opera À La Carte’s production of La bohème featured costuming and well-used furniture that made Rodolfo’s bohemian Parisian garret seem more real than the elaborate expensive sets and costumes of many other productions. After all, Rodolfo (tenor Adam Caughey) and his three friends are starving artists, and bohème is a notable example of opera verismo. Who knew? Turns out you can stage a memorable version of La bohème with underappreciated local singers and a modest budget.

What did our critic think of LA BOHÈME at MN Opera?

The Minnesota Opera's rendition of La Bohème will grace the stage of the Ordway Music Theater from May 4th to May 19th, 2024. The enchanting music is composed by Giacomo Puccini, with a compelling libretto crafted by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica.
