Recently, we had the opportunity to chat with James Cooper, who wrote the book and lyrics for Lovestuck. We discussed what it’s been like to work in the theatre industry for the first time, what it’s been like to create for a variety of mediums and what he hopes audiences take away from this new musical.

I grew up the son of a preacher. I spent pretty much every single day at church and that’s kind of how I found my way to music, theatre arts and dance. My parents had me in voice lessons, dance lessons, and acting classes at a really young age.

The past month represented the strongest April grosses in Broadway history, with each week being well over the $40 million mark, and Easter week peaking at over $50 million. Mean Girls is a fantastic musical based on the beloved movie written by Tina Fey. The story follows Cady Heron, a teenage girl who moves from Africa to a new high school in the United States. As she navigates the tricky social scene, she befriends Janis and Damian, who introduce her to the school's popular clique—the Plastics. Led by the charismatic Regina George, along with Gretchen Wieners and Karen Smith, this group is both glamorous and a little bit ruthless.

The World of Hans Zimmer – A New Dimension, a 24-city arena tour, will debut in North America this fall following a tremendously successful European run of the internationally acclaimed production in 2024.

Asolo Repertory Theatre has announced complete casting for the epic closing of the 2024 – 2025 Season, Jesus Christ Superstar, which begins previews on May 14, 2025. Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lyrics by Tim Rice and directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes. Jesus Christ Superstar runs May 14 – June 15.
