The world premiere of Swan Lake on the Water will debut at Palais 12 Theater Nov. 24, 2019.

Liam Scarlett's new production of Swan Lake for The Royal Ballet opened in May 2018, to great critical and audience acclaim. The production also received an Olivier Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Dance, recognising John Macfarlane's exceptional set and costume designs. Ahead of the first revival of this production in March 2020, Oberon Books and The Royal Ballet present an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at Swan Lake, featuring an array of photographs taken by acclaimed performing arts photographer Bill Cooper. Charting the creative process from design and studio rehearsal through to stage performance, the book beautifully captures all the spectacle and excitement of the production, as well as the backstage craftsmanship and creative vision breathing new life into this most iconic of classical ballets.

Last night, approximately an hour before the curtain was raised for Moscow Ballet 'La Classique's' production of Tchaikovsky's ballet 'Swan Lake' at the New Frontier Theatre, the show's local promoters Yuri and Beth Mercado officially announced that the run has been canceled, which disappointed many.

Wikipedia tells me that THE TEMPEST is 'now considered to be one of Shakespeare's greatest works,' but I'd never seen it until last week. Theatre Coup d'Etat brings us a stripped down, one act, in-the-round, intimate production in the non-traditional theater space that is SpringHouse Ministry Center, where they've often performed. I found that I like the play, that ends neither with everyone dead nor everyone married, like most Shakespeare plays seem to (although one couple is betrothed). Furthermore, the moral of the story seems to be forgiveness and peace, which is quite a refreshing story to experience these days. In the hands of this wonderful cast 13-person cast, this clear adaptation with great use of space, physicality, and music is the perfect introduction to THE TEMPEST.
