Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center is offering a stellar series of jazz performances with more than two dozen musicians, vocalists, and dancers appearing in West Chester this September through December, hosted by local jazz and blues artist, Sara Michaels.

On Monday, October 3, 2022 the multiple Grammy award-winning conductor, JoAnn Falletta, will conduct the Buffalo Philharmonic in their return to Carnegie Hall for a tribute to Lukas Foss, in honor of his 100th birthday (August 15, 1922 – Feb 1, 2009). Presented by Trinity Wall Street and Opus 3 Artists, the 7pm concert is a gift to New York City with free admission.

Musical impressionism ruled the San Diego Symphony’s early-evening Rady Shell concert this past weekend. First came conductor-composer Esa-Pekka Salonen’s reaction to Nyx, a daughter of Chaos, the earliest Greek god. Nyx, rarely mentioned in extant ancient Greek-literature, is goddess of the night, mysterious but powerful. At one point in Homer’s Iliad, even Zeus changes his plans for fear of making her angry, and I get that. She was the mother of Death and Sleep.
