While the large majority of those who have won Tony Awards for performances on Broadway have put in significant stage time in their roles, there are a few notable exceptions. Who are the artists who impressed Tony voters so much that they won their trophies, even with relatively minimal stage time?

What did our critic think of PIPPIN at Texarkana Repertory Company?

With beautiful music, dancing, and magic, and a thought-provoking story, Pippin is a whirlwind that captures the imagination. Pippin is a challenging show, but the cast at Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg approaches the challenge with an enthusiasm that is infectious.

To say that this was a one-of-a-kind event is an understatement.

​​​​​​​City Springs Theatre Conservatory, the arts education training arm of the City Springs Theatre Company, presents its first large-scale musical of the season, presented by Delta Community Credit Union. Directed by Junior Theatre Festival award-winner Haden Rider, Godspell, Jr. will run for three performances only November 11 and 12, 2022 in the Studio Theatre at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center (1 Galambos Way, Sandy Springs).

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, book, lyrics and music by Richard O'Brien, is his homage to B movies of horror and science fiction. This fantastical romp of a musical is packed with archetypal characters, hackneyed tropes and references that should have no resonance with contemporary youth. It's been a cult favorite for its entire half-century existence.

The next broadcast of Rob Morrison's Musical Theatre Melodies will pay tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Steven Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson's Tony Award winning musical PIPPIN, featuring interviews with Tony Award winner John Rubenstein and songs from the original Broadway cast recording with special narration by Tony Award nominee Walter Willison.

The second and final production of Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston’s 2022 season is Stephen Schwartz’s PIPPIN, originally produced on the Broadway stage in 1972 with direction and choreography by Bob Fosse, and revived/reimagined in 2013 by Diane Paulus at the American Repertory Theater before going to Broadway. Undaunted by following in those two very large sets of footsteps, RMT Artistic Director Rachel Bertone forges her own path to stage a version that leads with an enlarged heart and a healthy helping of fun and whimsy.

The Milburn Stone Theatre at Cecil College is prepared to kick off the 2022/2023 season with the show that won Bob Fosse the Tony award for Best Direction of a Musical, Pippin! What did our critic think of GODSPELL at Porthouse (Kent State University)? GODSPELL, which is now on stage at Porthouse Theatre, is based on 'The Gospel According to St. Matthew.' The musical tells the story of the last seven days of Christ's life. The parables have been contemporized, and Christ's followers are free spirits who sing the likes of 'Day by Day', 'All Good Gifts', and 'Turn Back, O Man.'

Tuesday June 28th, 2022, marks the 120th Anniversary of the birth of legendary Broadway composer Richard Rodgers, Rob Morrison's Musical Theatre Melodies will commemorate the occasion with the broadcast and streaming premiere of the Museum of the City of New York's A CELEBRATION OF RICHARD RODGERS, recorded live at The Imperial Theatre, New York City, on March 26th, 1972.
