Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater have announced their lineup of artists for March 16 through March 29: 

Ovalhouse has announced its new Artistic Director, Gbolahan Obisesan, will start in April 2020. Gbolahan will be leading the theatre into its new venue in Brixton, South London and succeeds Deborah Bestwick who steps down after 20 years at the helm.

Amy's Victory Dance, a documentary film by Emmy-nominee Brian Thomas, will premiere on April 2 and 5, 2020 as part of the 2020 ReelAbilities Film Festival in New York City. The uplifting and inspiring documentary follows the story of choreographer and dancer Amy Jordan, who, on a beautiful spring day in May 2009, was run over by a 15-ton New York City bus. As she regained awareness, she had no feeling on the right side of her body. Her first thought was, “Am I ever going to dance again?” Her second thought was 'If I survive the night, there will be a Victory Dance.'

Asolo Rep's Annual Gala: A Bollywood Ball will be held on Saturday, March 7 at The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota. The largest fundraiser of Asolo Rep's season, chaired by Mary Braxton-Joseph, Tammy Karp, Donna Koffman, and Elisabeth Waters, will begin at 6pm with a cocktail reception, silent auction and raffle, followed by a seated dinner, paddle raise, live music and dancing.

San Francisco Ballet and Artistic Director & Principal Choreographer Helgi Tomasson will launch the 2020 Repertory Season with SPELLBOUND: SF Ballet's Opening Night Gala on Thursday, January 16, 2020. One of the Bay Area's most anticipated annual events, the Gala, this year chaired by Patricia Dale Roberts, begins with a cocktail reception and black-tie fundraising dinner at San Francisco City Hall at 5 pm. La MaMa, in association with the Polish Cultural Institute and Komuna//Warszawa, is proud to present the U.S. premiere of Cezary Goes to War, a musically-driven queer fantasia on masculinity, nationalism, and the culture of war. Conceived and directed by Cezary Tomaszewski, a rising star of the Eastern European avant-garde, Cezary Goes to War draws on Tomaszewski's personal experiences with Poland's military draft and its archaic system of male classification. Weaving text from military evaluations of manliness, choreography inspired by army drills, and the patriotic songs by Stanisław Moniuszko, the father of Polish national opera, Cezary Goes to War offers a witty critique of military recruitment, national pride, and the vulnerability of male identity.

Bernie Williams, Latin Grammy-nominated jazz musician and former New York Yankees World Series Champ, returns to Café Carlyle, April 21-25. Bernie Williams, the New York Yankees center fielder for 16 years, is best known for his long and storied career in pinstripes - a career that includes four World Series championships, five appearances on the American League All-Star Team, four Gold Glove Awards and the 1996 American League Championship Series Most Valuable Player Award. Since he's hung up his cleats, he's had time to devote to his other great passion in life - jazz guitar. Now that he's out of the game, he's getting back to his musical roots. His return engagement at Café Carlyle, as part of the Bernie Williams Collective, will include an eclectic mix of Latin rhythms, smooth jazz, blues and standards. The Bernie Williams Collective is comprised of Bernie Williams (guitar), Don Harris (trumpet; music director), Joel Rosenblatt (drums), Dave Anderson (bass guitar), Erik Piza (percussion) and Clifford Carter (piano; keyboard).
