As one can expect with any Christopher Durang play, you can never predict what will happen next in BEYOND THERAPY. Set in a time when therapy was becoming accepted in popular culture, the play is a statement on both the need for good therapy and the perils of bad therapy. The play follows Bruce and Prudence as they search for that special someone with whom they can spend the rest of their lives.

This summer, Arms Wide Open returns live musical theatre to the Mt. Helix Amphitheatre with Tarzan: Beat of the Jungle, running July 17 through August 2, 2026. Directed and choreographed by Christopher Rubio, with musical direction by Terry Hendricks and production management by Yvonne Rubio, the production combines live percussion, dance, and a cast of 71 performers to tell the familiar story of Tarzan through a new artistic lens.

As Mike, Riley Shanahan yields readily to Vega’s Elaine May; his initial awkwardness and cluelessness is endearing, and his return to May, years later, acknowledges the debt he owed to her.
