Long Island Musical Theatre Festival has announced that Grammy Award nominee Mykal Kilgore will join its 2024 summer program as a guest artist. Kilgore will join a long list of LIMTF guest artists, which includes Stephen Schwartz, Beth Leavel, Jeanine Tesori, Alice Ripley, Adam Kantor, Jay Armstrong Johnson and more.

Maliakel’s cabaret show is exactly what one wants in a musical theater performer’s solo show, carefully selected song choices that are familiar and not self-indulgent. His melodious singing and his relatable banter connected the insanely talented performer with his audience. The marvelous Maliakel has certainly proven that he is a vocal musician, a technician, an accomplished actor, a sensational singer, and an exceptional entertainer in any size venue. Hopefully, St. Louis will get to see him again soon on a local stage.

What did the critics think of Goodman Theatre's world-premiere musical Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil? The musical is a stage adaptation of John Berendt’s iconic non-fiction book—brought to life by creators MacArthur “Genius” Grantee Taylor Mac (book), Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown (music and lyrics) with choreography by Tanya Birl-Torres.

MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL is a sprawling, messy musical that weaves together the threads of several characters in 1980s Savannah, Georgia. Composer/lyricist Jason Robert Brown draws on a variety of different musical styles, while Taylor Mac’s book scenes present a series of vignettes for the Savannah residents.

With 15 nominations, FX’s The Bear was the most nominated series this year, followed by Max’s Hacks and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building with 13 each. ABC’s Abbott Elementary and CBS’s Ghosts are tied for third place, with 11 nominations each.
