Main Street Theater Donates Fabric to Local Costume Designer Making Masks for Medical Workers

Donna Southern Schmidt, a local, professional costume designer who works regularly with MST as well as other Houston theaters, has found a way to make good use of her forced hiatus by sewing masks for medical workers. But these are not ordinary masks. She's using fabric remnants from plays she designed for Main Street Theater (MST).

Parallel 45 Theatre and Interlochen Center for the Arts are embarking on their official partnership with a contemporary twist on L.M. Montgomery's beloved novel, Anne of Green Gables. Of Green Gables, an abstract exploration of the classic story, is directed by Parallel 45's Shelby Lewis and will feature Interlochen Arts Academy theatre students at Interlochen's Phoenix Theatre on Thursday, March 12; Friday, March 13; and Saturday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m., with an additional performance March 14 at 2 p.m. Admission is free and tickets are not needed.

This strictly limited, 16-week engagement comes to Broadway on the heels of runs at London's National Theatre and New York's Park Avenue Armory, as well as an engagement in London's West End. Written by Stefano Massini, directed by Academy Award and Tony Award winner Sam Mendes, and starring its original cast of Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley, and Ben Miles, The Lehman Trilogy opens officially at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street) on Thursday, March 26, 2020.

One would call Benjamin Araujo, a musical prodigy having had his original orchestral composition 'A Postcard from New York City' performed by The New York Philhamonic as a winner of the Very Young Composers Program at Lincoln Center's David Geffen Hall in 2017. On January 8, 2020, 17-year-old Araujo will bring another soaring original composition to the stage, this time at Carnegie Hall.
