Cumberland County Playhouse - winner of the First Night Award for Outstanding Musical of 2018 for Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - has announced its lineup for the 2019 season.

Following the recent news that a fire had destroyed the entire set of their touring production on New Year's Eve, London Classic Theatre are pleased to announce that the extension of the UK tour of Charlotte Keatley's My Mother Said I Never Should will go ahead as planned. Kathryn Ritchie returns to play Jackie Metcalfe and will be joined by Rebecca Birch (Rosie Metcalfe), Lisa Burrows (Margaret Bradley) and Judith Paris (Doris Partington). Artistic Director of LCT, Michael Cabot, directs the production, which tours to a further 14 venues in 2019. The tour starts at New Theatre Royal Portsmouth on 6 February, with performances in Newtown, Ipswich, Doncaster, Middlesbrough, Richmond, Derby, Poole, Winchester, Worthing, Epsom, Swansea and Oldham before concluding at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford in April. Press night will take place on Wednesday 27 February at Richmond Theatre.

Company XIV, which recently presented their acclaimed sold out engagement of Nutcracker Rouge, announces their next production, the world-premiere of Queen of Hearts which will begin performances on Thursday, March 29th with an opening night set for Thursday, April 11th. In March 2019, the UK native, formerly Paris-, now San Francisco-based indie/electronic artist Micropixie will release her new album Dark Sight Of The Moon. Today, she has shared a new video for the song 'New Year's Day,' which is currently streaming via Glide Magazine who writes that 'the song takes a high-concept approach to offering commentary on a world that is torn by injustice, violence and war, and financial misdoings.'

Birmingham Stage Company today announces the full cast for their production of Tom Gates, written by Liz Pichon. Neal Foster directs Matthew Chase (Tom Gates), Ashley Cousins (Marcus/Granny), Matthew Gordan (Derek/Grandad), Amy Hargreaves (Amy/Delia), Daniel Harkin (Mr Fullerman/Dad) and Alice Redmond (Mum). The production opens on 20 March with previews from 14 February, and tours until 30 November 2019.

If so, you are most likely familiar with a plot about doing whatever it takes to shine solo in the spotlight. But in 2019, theatre camps have to reflect a deepening sensitivity to what young adults need in order to balance ever intensifying pressures during the rest of the year.
