The current COVID -19 crisis has had a devastating effect on the performing arts. Broadway has shut down, and the ban on gatherings in New York extends to all other performance spaces as well, including the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell, home to the Bergen County Players (BCP) since 1949. The show must go on(line) and, luckily, streaming video makes that possible.

A total of 216 music teachers from 199 cities have been announced as quarterfinalists for the Music Educator Award presented by the Recording Academy® and GRAMMY Museum®. Written and directed by Nathan Catucci, Impossible Monsters will have its theatrical release in New York at the Cinema Village and in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Monica Film Center on Friday, February 14, 2020. Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, acquired Worldwide rights to the film. Nick Royak of Gravitas Ventures negotiated the deal with Glen Reynolds of Circus Road Films on behalf of the filmmakers. The film will be released on various Video On Demand platforms in North America, UK and Australia, and worldwide on Vimeo on March 3, 2020.

Today, SHOWTIME announced it will air OUTCRY, a five-part documentary series examining the gripping story of high school football star Greg Kelley, his controversial conviction and the quest for truth and justice as the case unfolds.

Kevin Kwan, author of Crazy Rich Asians, will take the stage at Irvine Barclay Theatre on February 6 as part of the venue's new speaker series, Fresh Take. Today's guest, Michael Zegen, can currently be seen starring on the critically acclaimed Amazon series 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. Asolo Rep proudly kicks off its winter repertory season with Agatha Christie's MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS. The classic edge-of-your-seat murder mystery will be brought to the stage with a new adaptation by two-time Tony Award-winning master of farce Ken Ludwig and directed by Asolo Rep Associate Artist Peter Amster. MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS previews January 8 and 9, opens January 10 and runs in rotating repertory through March 8 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts. 

Some may doubt that a stage adaptation of the terrifically inventive, romantic, and witty 1998 film, 'Shakespeare in Love,' could possibly succeed. However, Connecticut Repertory Theatre's current production, expertly directed by Vincent Tycer and acted by a vibrant, masterful cast, proves that setting this story--which is about theater, after all--in an actual theater, creates a magic all its own. This production is, without a doubt, 'a hit! a palpable hit!'
