The Morris Museum will launch its new Real to Reel Film Series on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 7:30PM in the Bickford Theatre. This documentary film series will provide a unique focus on the world around us and will be hosted monthly by Bruce Frigeri, an adjunct professor of film studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University.  For each screening there will be a discussion with Bruce before the film to provide further insights.

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) has named Oskar Eustis as the first recipient of its new honor, The Gordon Davidson Award, which will be bestowed annually by SDCF to recognize a director or choreographer for lifetime achievement and distinguished service in the regional theatre nationally. The presentation of the award will take place on Saturday, September 22, at the Center Theatre Group's Annex/ Gordon Davidson Rehearsal Hall, in a by-invitation-only event.

On August 4th, 2019, the new play reading series, A Place at the Table, held its first reading featuring an all womxn cast of Arthur Miller's 1964 play, Incident at Vichy. A Place at the Table, conceived by Olivia Daniels, Sarah Hogewood, and Ellie Handel, was created to take classic plays and reimagine them through a contemporary lens, offering womxn artists the chance to perform in roles that were not originally written with their voices in mind.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced today it will produce the world premiere of MS. BLAKK FOR PRESIDENT co-written by ensemble members Tina Landau (SpongeBob Squarepants: The Broadway Musical) and Tarell Alvin McCraney (Moonlight, Academy Award) as the sixth production in the 2018/19 season. Conceived by Tina Landau, she also directs this true and untold Chicago story that will star Tarell Alvin McCraney in the lead role. Previews begin May 23, 2019 (opening is June 3 at 7pm) and the production runs through July 14, 2019 in the Upstairs Theatre, 1650 N Halsted St. Press Performances are Monday, June 3 at 7pm and Wednesday, June 5 at 7:30pm. Casting has been confirmed for Charlotte Jones' (Humble Boy a?' National Theatre) hilarious and heartfelt comedy, Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis at Park Theatre. Winner of the 1998 Pearson Best Play Award, this marks the play's twenty-first anniversary and first ever London run. The production stars Sioned Jones, Charlie Bence, Kellie Batchelor, Andrew P Stephen, Matt Lim and Jessica Forrest. It is directed by Robert Wolstenholme, with a national press night on Friday 13th December at 7pm.
