Originally conceived as a jazz project by co-producers Aretha and Quincy Jones, Hey Now Hey (The Other Side Of The Sky) featured her #1 R&B and Top 20 single, “Angel,” written by Aretha’s sister, as well as Stephen Sondheim’s “Somewhere” from the Broadway musical West Side Story, which features Aretha on piano.

Jon Reimer is the director of Tokyo International Players (TIP)’s production of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. He is the Drama Teacher at Seisen International School, a job which he adores. Jon has a doctorate from the Joint Ph.D. program in Theatre and Drama, and an M.F.A. in Directing. His academic research interests include traditional and modern Japanese performance, western acting techniques focused around active listening, and cross-cultural theatre. He is specifically interested in inter- and intra-culturalized Japanese theatre and their relevance amongst international perspectives. This is Jon’s second time living in Japan and he is happy to be back.

It premiered on Broadway in 2019, was performed in South Korea in 2021, started a North American tour in 2022, and is currently being staged in Japan as of 2023. Jesse is a member of SixTONES, making his debut in 2020. His activities span a wide range, including music, variety shows, YouTube, TV series, and movies. Some of his notable works include the film “Sing 2' (2022) (voice over), 'TOKYO MER'(2022), and the TV series “Saisho wa Paa' (2022). Additionally, he and his fellow group members appears on NHK Educational TV's 'Value no Shinjitsu' every Tuesday, TBS's “Lie or Truth' every Friday, and “SixTONES’ All Night Nippon Saturday Special' every Saturday.

The renowned singer and musician will return with his Bergman tribute show October 24th and December 9th.

For its seventh iteration of the company's “Hands-On-Opera” initiative, Opera Parallèle has commissioned multi-faceted Japanese composer Kenji Oh* for his very first opera along with prolific librettist Kelley Rourke* to create an adaptation of The Emissary, a new family opera based on the award-winning novel by celebrated Japanese author Yoko Tawada, featuring an English translation by Margaret Mitsutani.

The unique concept includes a working bar on-stage in which audience members can be served beer during the pre-show and during the performance. For the Tampa stop, local brewery Coppertail lent the evening libations.

When I began re-reading the original material I instantly felt drawn to a circus backdrop in terms of design and aesthetic. A troop of entertainers, from the Ringmaster to the clowns, coming together to put on a show in a worn-out tent filled with the ammunition needed to put on a touring show, travelling away from home.

The tour will be making stops throughout the country, kicking off on January 25, 2024 in Nashville and visiting Orlando, Seattle, Minneapolis, Boston, Brooklyn and more, before wrapping up in Chicago on February 25. The last time Neck Deep toured the U.S. was in the Fall/Winter of 2021.
