BPA Theatre School is thrilled to team up with Bainbridge Dance Center to offer exciting Mid-Winter Break Camps for grades K - 10 that will be held at BPA Tuesday, February 20 through Friday, February 23.

Our youngest set (grades K - 3) may choose from two camp options: Group Voice with Liz Ellis meets at 11:15 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Our youngest students have the most room to grow, especially when it comes to their voices. This fun-filled introduction to basic harmonies and syncopation will groom students for a lifetime of positive performance opportunities. Meeting at 1:15 - 2:45 p.m., Story Ballet with Bainbridge Dance Center's Kim Holloway, Seattle-based contemporary choreographer and BDC faculty member, will help students grow their body awareness and sense of rhythm through the characters, music, and famous movements from favorite ballets such as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty.

Students in grades 4 - 6 may choose from three enticing camp options: In Dance Composition (meeting at 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.), Kim Holloway will introduce students to fundamental concepts of dance composition and ways of telling stories with their bodies. Students will have the opportunity to create their own work to be shared in the final showing on February 23. In Costume Design (meeting at 11:15 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.), students will gain access to BPA's entire costume stock as well as the brilliant mind of instructor Barbara Klingberg - the award-winning costume designer of BPA's hit shows Amadeus and Priscilla Queen of the Desert. In Group Voice (meeting at 1:15 - 2:45 p.m.), students will develop techniques designed to enhance their value to any musical theatre ensemble for the rest of their lives, plus they will get to enjoy singing Tony?winning hits with their friends.

Students, grades 7 - 10 may also choose from three camp selections: In Group Voice (meeting at 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.), students may either bring in 16 bars of their favorite song or use one of our selections, and will receive instruction in a workshop format. Each student will walk away with a confident audition piece and a deeper understanding of their vocal instrument. In Dance Composition (meeting daily at 11:15 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.), Kim Holloway will introduce students to the fundamental concepts of dance composition and will offer personalized guidance as students create their own work to be shared in the final showing on February 23. In Costume Design (meeting at 1:15 - 2:45 p.m.) with the award-winning designer Barbara Klingberg, students will explore a series of projects geared to develop understanding of the scope of the designer's role, sharpen their design eye, and acquire some of the craft skills that are essential to the trade.
