“Long Beach Island,” by fulltime attorney Edson McClellan who wrote his first screenplay four years ago at age 49, won the Eighth Annual Ojai Film Festival Screenplay Competition. The award comes with a Live Table Read performed by professional actors.

PCPA Season 60 single tickets will go on sale Friday, September 15, 2023 at 12:30 pm. Season 60 includes a complete line-up of seven shows - Elf the Musical, Henry V, Wolf at the Door, Little Shop of Horrors, The Play That Goes Wrong, Cabaret, and The Agitators.

Chance Theater, Anaheim’s official resident theater company, will present a staged reading of a brand new play as part of the 2023 OTR New Works Series. Written by Jonathan Josephson, and directed by Chance Theater’s Artistic Director Oánh Nguyễn, this staged reading will be presented on Wednesday, September 20th at 7:30pm.

The Santa Barbara Symphony and the American Federation of Musicians have announced a new three-year contract, extending through June 2026.

 The Santa Barbara Symphony is inviting the community to a FREE Season Preview event on Thursday, September 7 at the Lobero Theatre. A welcome reception on the promenade will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the program will begin inside promptly at 5:00 p.m.

The Theatre Group at SBCC will present the classic musical, GUYS AND DOLLS, A Musical Fable of Broadway, Based on a Story and Characters by Damon Runyon, Music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser, Book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows as the first show of its 2023-24 theatre season, July 12-29, 2023 in the Garvin Theatre.

The Theatre Group at SBCC presents its 2023-24 theatre season beginning in July with the classic musical GUYS AND DOLLS.

UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture Dean Brett Steele has announced the appointment of Edgar Miramontes to the position of executive and artistic director of UCLA's Center for the Art of Performance (CAP UCLA), effective August 2023. Miramontes comes to CAP UCLA from REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater), a multidisciplinary center for innovative visual, performing, and media arts founded by California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where he has served as deputy executive director and curator since 2019, and associate director from 2013-2019.

The Board of Directors of Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC) has announced the departure of the Company’s Artistic Director, Jonathan Fox, as of June 30, 2023. Jonathan has held the position since 2006 when ETC performed in the Alhacama Theatre and he will be overseeing and directing Seared, the final production of ETC’s 44th Season, playing from June 8 to 25.
