Craig Noel Memorial Held at Balboa Park's Spreckels Organ Pavilion 5/24

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto announces that the memorial service honoring Founding Director of The Old Globe, Craig Noel, on Monday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. will now be held at the historic Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park. The memorial, 'Celebrating the Theatrical Legacy of Craig Noel,' was originally scheduled to be held in the Old Globe Theatre. Due to the size of the response, the event has been moved to the larger outdoor venue. Following the service, a reception will be held on the theater's Copley Plaza, a short walk from the Pavilion. The memorial service is free and open to all.
North Coast Repertory Theatre Presents Student One Act Festival 5/14-16

Four young people, ranging in age from 11 to 16, met the challenge of writing, directing and producing their own plays for the 2010 One Act Festival at the North Coast Repertory Theatre in Solana Beach. The One Act Festival will be presented on May 14-16. The plays include: 'A Walk in the Park' by Peter Lillian; 'Super Pi' by Joelle Leib; 'Who's on Alpha?' by theatre school director Matt Thompson; 'The Purple Peach and the Punctuated People' by ; and 'Revived Hearts' by Kari Benirschke.

Moonlight Announces Schedule Changes for 2011

Moonlight Stage Productions announces that effective in 2011, it will consolidate its winter season by performing all of its shows back-to-back beginning in January. For its 2011 summer season, the company will add a fourth musical to its line-up. The expansion of next summer's popular season of outdoor musicals was approved by the Vista City Council at a regular meeting on May 11, 2010.

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced an Open House event that begins the Globe's year-long 75th Anniversary celebration. The free event will take place on Sunday, June 13 between 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and feature performances, backstage tours, costume displays, sword fighting demonstrations, bagpipes and Elizabethan dances. Presiding over the Open House will be Queen Elizabeth - played by Old Globe Associate Artist Marion Ross.

Cygnet Theatre's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street opens on March 27 at 8PM. The beloved murderous musical, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, joins the list of other Sondheim works already produced or produced in staged-readings on Cygnet's stages. Co-Directed by Cygnet Artistic Director Sean Murray and Resident Artist James Vasquez, Sweeney Todd runs through April 25th, 2010 at Cygnet's Old Town Theatre.
