Cygnet Theatre Partners with Old Town Restaurants To provide Food & Art

By:

The theatrical feast of Alan Ackybourn's THE NORMAN CONQUESTS is not the only delicacy Cygnet Theatre is offering its theatergoers, with the kick-off of its 8th Season... Beginning July 28th (NORMAN'S first preview), Cygnet is delighted to join forces with Old Town restaurant partners to provide the convenience of adding dining-packages to ticket purchases. Packages will range from $10 boxed sandwich lunches, prior to matinees, to elegant $40 dinners with a beverage, tax and tip included.

THE NORMAN CONQUESTS, consisting of three full-length plays (Table Manners, Round and Round the Garden and Living Together) in rotating repertory, has one of the most unique constructs of any theatrical production to date. Each play in Ayckbourn's trilogy reveals the story of a quirky librarian and his outrageous in-laws from a different room in an English county home. Although each play is crafted to stand on its own, NORMAN lovers tend to see all three productions for even deeper insight and more laugh-filled revelations. With two or more shows playing per day each weekend, Marketing Director Manny Fernandes wanted to offer something special to those audiences who chose to partake in multiple-show days. "We wanted to make the NORMAN experience an amazing one for our theatergoers," states Fernandes. "Two or three shows in one day is a lot to commit to. We already feel confident that our cast is going to provide an incredibly memorable theatrical experience. We wanted the down time, between shows, to measure up."

Old Town restaurants, which have seen an increase in dining traffic before and after Cygnet productions, were delighted to provide special Prix-fixe Cygnet Menu Packages. Mark Pelliccia, chef and co-owner of 25Forty Bistro & Bakehouse explained that receiving a list of those theatre-patrons planning to dine with them early, helps with prep time and keeps the dinner service quick and question-free - a nice bonus for those hoping to catch the next Norman Show of the evening.

So far, Cygnet restaurant partners include Bara Bara ("the best margarita in SD", seafood and flatbread tacos), New Orleans Creole Cafe (specializing in New Orleans style Jambalaya and Crawfish Etouffe), Zocalo (with a Latin inspired menu featuring dishes from Central and South America, Cuba and Mexico), 25Forty Bistro & Bakehouse (innovative, international cuisine relying on fresh seasonal produce), Cafe Coyote (delicious Mexican food and a festive atmosphere), Old Town Liquor & Deli (delicious deli sandwiches) and El Fandango (reflecting tasty California dishes inspired by the years 1846 through 1856).

Cygnet Patrons are invited to check out our partners' Prix-fixe menus on-line at www.cygnettheatre.com or peruse the menus in person while visiting our box office located at the Old Town Theatre, 4040 Twiggs St. in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Menu packages can be added onto Cygnet NORMAN ticket purchases. Menu package prices cover the cost of the meal, beverage, tax and tip. Cygnet plans to keep these restaurant partner packages throughout the Season.

For more information on THE NORMAN CONQUESTS or Cygnet Theatre's dining packages visit Cygnet's website at www.cygnettheatre.com or call the box office at (619) 337-1525. Special package prices are also available for those who wish to see multiple shows in the NORMAN trilogy. To purchase tickets and/or dining packages in person, visit Cygnet's box office located at the Old Town Theatre, 4040 Twiggs St. in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.
