Throughout its existence Starlight Musical Theatre has recognized the importance of family, basing its mission on family-friendly-fun. In addition to its KidsFree Program, this year the theatre is donating to three organizations to ensure youth participation in the arts; 200 tickets to Henry's Marketplace for their kids programs, 100 to the Children's Initiative, a non-profit organization that strives to improve children's well-being in the San Diego area through education and community outreach, and 16 to UCSD'd HIP Medical program, which allows 10 exceptional high-school seniors the chance to explore USCD's medical program and the exciting different careers the field of medicine has to offer.

"Children are the stepping-stones of our generation-- it is up to them to be the shapers of our future. That is why Starlight wishes to donate tickets to these programs; to foster imagination, creativity, and allow children to experience the magic of live theatre", says Ryan Fahey, Starlight's Marketing/PR director.

"The Children's Initiative is thrilled to collaborate with the renowned Starlight Theatre to provide tickets to performances at the Starlight Theatre to students who attend before and after school programs in San Diego County. Many students who participate in these programs are from low, socio-economic backgrounds with limited means. Through your generosity, students have an opportunity to enjoy a performance which they otherwise might not be able to attend", exclaimed The Children's Initiative's State & Federal After School Programs Director Christina Prado

Located in beautiful Balboa Park, Starlight Musical Theatre has been a unique San Diego tradition for 64 years. Starlight audiences can enjoy top notch San Diego professionals while sitting under the stars in a 4,200-seat outdoor amphitheatre. Built for the 1935-1936 California-Pacific Exposition, the Starlight Bowl became the home of Starlight Musical Theatre in 1946. Since that time, Starlight has presented over 133 musicals and is one of the oldest continuously-producing musical theatre companies in the United States.
