South Texas College (STC) Theatre presents its inaugural South Texas Latinx New Play Festival. The festival will take place on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25 at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, June 25 at 2 p.m. Performances will be at STC’s Cooper Center for Performing Arts Main Stage Theater at 3200 W. Pecan Blvd. in McAllen.

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center announces Grupo Animo 2022, a summer theater camp for students between the ages of 13 and 18 years old. This three-week theatrical camp is offered at no cost to students and will take place at the historic Guadalupe Theater, 1301 Guadalupe St, from July 5 to 22. Camp will be offered Monday through Friday from 1pm to 5pm. Its summer program will culminate with a student showcase created and performed by Grupo Animo company members on Saturday, July 23 at 7pm.

Audiences will join the Banks Family as they encounter adventure after fun-filled adventure with their curious new nanny, Mary Poppins. Adapted especially for young performers, this musical includes favorite Sherman brothers songs such as “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Feed the Birds,” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” as well as wonderful new songs by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. With colorful characters and an irresistible score, MARY POPPINS JR. is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for all ages!

The four new members include Kelly Archer Deary (Overland Partners Architects) who also brings experience from her time working for Disney Theatrical in New York; Brandon L. Howard CPA, PLLC (The University of Texas at San Antonio); Dacota Haselwood (Community Volunteer); and Ricardo Chavira (Actor, Selena: The Series, Desperate Housewives, Scandal).

The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) announces the release of the 2022 guidelines and open call for applications for the relaunch of the NALAC Fund for the Arts (NFA) grant program. Latinx artists and organizations of all disciplines based in the U.S. and Puerto Rico may apply for $10,000 grant awards. The NALAC Fund for the Arts (NFA) includes the NFA Adán Medrano Legacy Award in Film, a $10,000 award for one emerging Latinx filmmaker.
