Broadway Rose Theatre Extends ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE thru 5/26

One of the best-loved names in country music is the subject of Always...Patsy Cline, a funny and touching tribute as narrated by one of her most devoted fans and friends. The musical tribute features Sara Catherine Wheatley as Cline and Broadway Rose's artistic director, Sharon Maroney, as her friend, Louise Seger. Always...Patsy Cline is being performed now at the Broadway Rose New Stage. Sales for Always…Patsy Cline have been extremely strong, and the theater has decided to extend the run another week. The show will now run through May 26, 2013.

This original adaptation of Cinderella marks the close of NW Children's Theater's 20th Anniversary Season, and is NWCT's second world premiere this year, running April 27-May 26, 2013. Always…Patsy Cline will be performed at the Broadway Rose New Stage. Preview performance is April 18 with opening night on Friday, April 19, and performances continue through May 19, 2013. Evening performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Matinees are at 2 p.m. on Sundays, and on Saturday, April 27, May 4, 11, and 18. The New Stage is located at 12850 SW Grant Avenue in Tigard. Tickets start at $30 for adults, with discounts available for groups and youth. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will open Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, A Streetcar Named Desire, at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the Angus Bowmer Theatre. This production is directed by Christopher Liam Moore, who, along with many of the same collaborators, designed and staged the extremely popular Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in 2010.

When I arrived in Portland two and a half years ago, the name I heard repeatedly throughout the Portland theatre community was Matthew B. Zrebski. In the time I have lived here, I have had the opportunity to not only work with Matt in several capacities, but to also call this gracious and humble man my friend. His original and haunting a capella musical thriller Ablaze is about to have its World Premiere, opening at the Brunish Theatre at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts on April 12th. Matt is one of the busiest and hardest working theatre arts in Portland, but I had the chance to sit down with him to discuss this exciting new work.

Artists Rep will present The Gin Game by D.L. Coburn, starring Allen Nause and Vana O'Brien, directed by JoAnn Johnson. This two-person, two-act play is a 1978 Pulitzer Prize winner and garnered multiple Tony Award nominations both with its original 1977 production and the Broadway revival in 1997.
