Milagro Celebrates International Women's Day with MUJERES Today

This year Milagro is happy to celebrate The International Women's Day with a late night party with music and surprise performances in celebration of womanhood directed by Olga Sanchez. Our annual Spanish language program will be held at El Zocalo in El Centro Milagro (537 SE Stark st, Portland OR 97214) from 10 pm to 1 am today, March 7. Admission is free for all the ladies and for patrons attending Ardiente Paciencia that evening. Tickets available at the door. Women free and five dollars for others.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) will host three free Hip-Hop Poetry Open Mic events this spring on March 10,April 7 and May 5. All Hip-Hop Poetry Open Mic events will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Black Swan on the OSF campus (15 S. Pioneer St., Ashland, OR 97520). Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.; space is limited.

Artists Rep presents the Northwest premiere of The Motherfucker With the Hat by Stephen Aldy Guirgis, now through March 30. This hard-hitting, comedic play premiered on Broadway in 2011 starring Chris Rock, making his Broadway debut as Ralph D. and was directed by Anna D. Shapiro. Kevin Jones will direct Artists Rep's production starring Victor Mack as Ralph D. The Broadway production was nominated for six Tony Awards, including Outstanding New Broadway Play, and is one of the most produced plays in the country. Check out a first look below!

Traveling Lantern to Offer $5 Plays for Kids at Artists Rep Every Sunday

Creating opportunity for young audiences, Artists Rep continues its partnership with the long-established and well-reputed Traveling Lantern Theatre Company to present low cost performances for children in its Alder Lobby. The interactive theatre performances for children will be produced by Traveling Lantern and performed every Sunday morning at 11:00 am. These family friendly performances will run approximately 45 minutes and include a Q&A with the cast afterward. Tickets are only $5 for all who attend over 5 years old, and can be purchased at the door or at www.artistsrep.org.

Post5 Theatre takes audiences into the mind of Shakespeare's arguably most famous and complex protagonist, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. Directed by Portland stalwart Paul Angelo, Post5's abridged and multimedia vision of Hamlet marks the third production of its 2014 season, bringing its trademark fast-paced, here-and-now approach to what many consider to be Shakespeare's masterpiece. Utilizing Post5's intimate Black-Box theatre and new multimedia projections to create a show that is close, personal, and deeply psychological; Post5's Hamlet will focus on Prince Hamlet's relationship with his late father, and the universal themes of doubt, trust, and duty that accompany that.

The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2014 preview performances begin tonight, February 14, and the season will open Friday night, February 21 in the Angus Bowmer Theatre with Shakespeare's The Tempest (director, Tony Taccone). On Saturday, Lorraine Hansberry's The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window (Juliette Carrillo) takes the stage, as does the classic Marx Brothers musical The Cocoanuts (David Ivers), and Sunday afternoon Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors (Kent Gash) opens in the Thomas Theatre.
