New Exhibits Announced For Brown-Daub Gallery at the State Theatre

By: Sep. 16, 2011

The State Theatre in Easton announces two new exhibits for The Brown-Daub Gallery, 5th & Northampton Streets, Easton.

The Arts Community of Easton's (ACE) Annual Juried Member Show will be on display Thursday, September 22 - Saturday, November 19 in the main gallery. An Opening Reception is scheduled for Friday, October 7th from 6 PM - 8 PM.

ACE creates opportunities which invite community involvement, and presents educational opportunities by organizing exhibitions, classes and workshops, an annual studio tour, and public mural projects. ACE also initiates and participates in area activities which enrich the artistic life of the community, working with the community, and underserved groups identified by local agencies. ACE recognizes that a thriving community of artists is essential to accomplishing these goals, thus fosters artists in education and professional development and provides a venue for communication with peers, schools, arts organizations, and local government. In the gallery annex, Lehigh Valley photographer Ed Eckstein presents Coming of Rage, showing now through December 17. Coming of Rage includes photo observations from street level at a time when the demands for greater individual freedom broke free of the social constraints of the previous age. The 60's and into the 70's became an era of discontent and divisiveness, civil rights, anti war and racial hatreds all coming together bringing change to America. The photographs are from locations as diverse as London, Fort Jackson, SC, Washington, D.C., Delaware, East Berlin and Philadelphia.

Coming of Rage exhibit books and prints will be for sale. For more information on Ed Eckstein, visit www.edeckstein.com

Ed Eckstein: Coming of Rage is part of the InVision Photo Festival, featuring 40 exhibits through the region in celebration of Lehigh Valley Photography Month in November.

The Brown-Daub Gallery is programmed by the State Theatre Center for the Arts, in partnership with Arts Community in Easton. In addition to opening reception times, exhibits are open to the public 90 minutes prior to most State Theatre main stage performances.
