FRIGID New York and The Apollo will present the 17th season of the Obie Award-winning The Fire This Time Festival, a platform for playwrights of African and African-American descent to write and produce evocative material for diverse audiences.

The Drinking Gourd, a national initiative dedicated to developing new works by Black playwrights, has announced its 2025–26 cohort: Stacey Rose, India Nicole Burton, and Nathan Yungerberg.

The Apollo announced that The Fire This Time Festival, the Obie-Award-winning theater festival celebrating playwrights of African and African American descent, will make its permanent home at The Apollo Stages at The Victoria.

International dancer and choreographer Taylor Gordon will return to New York City this summer with the second season of her powerful, semi-autobiographical work, UNPACKED: a dance adventure. The performance will take place Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. outdoors at Waterside Plaza, located at East 26th Street and the East River.

The Latinx Theatre Commons (LTC) has awarded the 2024 Diane Rodriguez Teatrista Award to Miranda Gonzalez. “The Diane” is the LTC's award dedicated to an individual working in the theatre field who is committed to increasing Latinx representation across disciplines.
