How Tina Fey Made Waves with 30 ROCK

In 2006, hot from her seven-year stint as head writer at Saturday Night Live, Tina Fey made her first appearance as Liz Lemon on televisions across the country on 30 Rock. Reminiscent of Fey's previous television show, Lemon was the head writer and creator of the sketch comedy show The Girlie Show, later shortened to TGS. She tries to “have it all” and throughout the seven seasons and 138 episodes of 30 Rock, she eventually does find fulfillment in both her familial, friend and work relationships – but not with trials and tribulations.

The Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE), along with the New York City Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) and the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS) announced today the second cohort of the Made in NY Writers Room, a six-month television writing fellowship that provides mentorship, industry access and financial support to underrepresented writers who reside in New York City and seek to tell stories that are not often depicted on television.

Megan Tingley, Executive Vice President and Publisher, and Farrin Jacobs, Vice President, Editorial Director, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, announce the acquisition of The Legends of Greemulax by Kimmy Schmidt with Sarah Mlynowski, set to publish on April 2, 2019. With the publication of The Legends of Greemulax, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers makes available the original middle grade fantasy adventure novel featured in Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. In the hit show, the title character garners fame for penning The Legends of Greemulax, which helps young boys understand sexism. April is Child Abuse Prevention month, and in recognition of this book's release, NBCUniversal will be making a donation in support of Prevent Child Abuse America. The Legends of Greemulax will simultaneously release in hardcover and ebook.

Today, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) announced the initial line-up for the 2019 SCAD aTVfest, Atlanta's only festival dedicated to television. Now in its seventh year, the university's annual signature event celebrating the television industry will be held at SCADshow on February 7 - 9, 2019.
