BWW Review: Betty Buckley Returns with Jazzy New Cabaret Set at OC's Segerstrom Center

It's amazing to think that it has only been just six weeks since Tony Award winning stage and screen actress Betty Buckley ended her much-lauded 13-month-long engagement starring as the title role in the recent Broadway national tour production of HELLO DOLLY. During that brief stretch of time post-Dolly Levi, Ms. Buckley has been preparing to go back out on the road again, this time returning to her series of touring intimate one-woman concerts---no elaborate period costumes or scripted story dialogue this time, just her selection of favorite songs and her undeniable talent in its purest form. Luckily, Orange County is the first stop of her new show, which continues through October 19, 2019 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts' Samueli Theater in Costa Mesa, where the show serves as the 2019-2020 Season Opener for the Center's Cabaret Concert Series. National Veterans And Military Families Month Announced At Segerstrom Center

In honor of our service men and women, Segerstrom Center for the Arts announces National Veterans and Military Families Month at the Center, featuring military veteran bands throughout November, a Vets and Pets event, special discounted tickets for three shows, and more! To kick off the month of celebration, the Center invites everyone to a special Vets and Pets event FREE on the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza, Sunday, November 3 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Join us as we celebrate heroes of all kinds, including veterans, military families, and their furry companions. Come ready to enjoy outdoor music with the delightfully retro Jill Sargeant Duo and live swing band Dave Stuckey & The Hot House Gang. Jessie Mueller plays Loretta Lynn in the upcoming Lifetime original movie, Patsy & Loretta. Mueller stars alongside Megan Hilty, who plays Patsy Cline. The film is based on the untold true story of the friendship between the music icons. When they first met, Patsy (Hilty) was already one of the biggest stars in country music while Loretta (Mueller) was just a coal miner's daughter, starting off with little to her name but a $17 guitar. Instead of seeing Loretta as competition, Patsy took Loretta under her wings to help her make it in Nashville. (more...)
