Manhattan School Of Music Presents Stephen Sondheim's SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE

Manhattan School of Music's Musical Theatre program, launched in fall 2016, welcomes back audiences to Neidorff-Karpati Hall for its spring mainstage production of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George. The production will run for four performances, March 25-27.

This morning, Broadway legends Bernadette Peters, Mandy Patinkin, and James Lapine stopped by CBS Sunday Morning to discuss their work on the Sondheim musical, Sunday in the Park with George. The musical was inspired by George Seurat's 1886 pointilist painting, 'A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.' The group visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art to inspect a smaller study by Seurat of the same piece. Lapine discusses visiting Sondheim with a postcard image of the painting and how they went about dissecting the artwork for their Broadway classic.

Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley announced today that their Stars in the House series will host a 10-hour telethon to raise money and awareness for those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine. Donations of the event will benefit the International Rescue Committee and their humanitarian efforts for those affected by the war in Ukraine.

Theatre Communications Group has announced the publication of Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus by Taylor Mac. The play was originally commissioned by HERE Arts Center with the support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation's National Playwright Residency Program, administered in partnership with HowlRound. Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus received its world premiere on Broadway in the spring of 2019.
