The Walnut Street Theatre’s opening night production of 1776 is, quite simply, magnificent. It arrives not merely as a theatrical event, but as something more essential—an experience that feels necessary.

Walnut Street Theatre has released first look footage of 1776, Sherman Edwards and Peter Stone's classic award-winning Broadway musical, now playing through May 31, 2026 as part of Philadelphia's celebration commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Walnut Street Theatre will present 1776 THE MUSICAL as part of its 2025-26 Season of Legendary Stories, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. The production is set to open on April 14, 2026, with performances running through May 8.

One of the most infamous figures in history, Judas Iscariot, leads a cast of icons in Broadway at Music Circus’ staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar. Kyle Taylor Parker returns to the round as Judas and, under Glenn Casale’s direction, looks forward to entertaining Sacramento beginning March 13th. Parker was last seen at Music Circus in 2024’s Jersey Boys as Hal Miller, and we are so glad he’s back. BroadwayWorld spoke to him about his prolific career, getting into character to play a villain, and what makes this re-imagining of the classic so special.

A revolutionary rock musical directed by the legendary Glenn Casale is just what we needed to cap off the summer at Broadway at Music Circus. Hair, a 1960s celebration written by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot, returns to the round after ten years in a life-affirming spectacle of free-spirited energy.

Perfection, thy name is Joseph. And Narrator. And Pharoah. And Jacob. And Potiphar. And director Glenn Casale’s explosive production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Broadway at Music Circus. This musical marvel is an early collaboration of super-duo Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who would go on to create such hits as Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita. The original Broadway show opened in 1982 and was nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Original Score. It was last seen at Broadway at Music Circus in 2010, so Sacramento is more than ready for this spectacular sung-through musical once again.

The Little Mermaid is currently playing at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in Saint Paul, Minnesota, now through December 29, 2024. We had the opportunity to chat with Liz McCartney, who portrays Ursula in this production.

Director Glenn Casale has helmed another must-see show this summer, and it’s fitting to close this exciting season with such an iconic title.
