New musicals by three Philadelphia-area creative teams will be in the spotlight on April 14 at 3 pm and April 15 at 7 pm, when MusiCoLab presents A Closer Look at the Louis Bluver Theater at the Drake.

Vivid Stage will present its house improv team, The Flip Side, on March 9 at 8:00 pm. The theme of the show will be Ancient History, as the improvisers take the audience on a kooky and irreverent journey through the myths and legends of the distant past.

MusiCoLab, a nonprofit organization founded to encourage and support new musicals and the artists who create them, has brought together several theater companies to establish “Curtain Up Philly! A Celebration of New Musicals” – a two-month celebration of the creation of new works for the musical stage.

Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, will present a free screenplay reading of Jacqueline Remembers All of This by David Lee White, Dave Maulbeck and Maribeth Theroux on Monday January 22 at 7 pm.

Kick off the holiday season with Vivid Stage, at their annual Holidays with the Flip Side show. Traditional holiday stories and characters are turned on their heads by Vivid’s house improv team, The Flip Side, on December 2 at 8:00 pm at the Oakes Center in Summit.

A new musical -- “Alien8” -- written by Kate Brennan and David Lee White was developed with and written for teenagers and speaks to intergenerational views of gender, identity, and inclusion within an anthem of belonging, love, and acceptance.

Bucks County Playhouse Youth Company is accepting video audition submissions for five male roles (ages 13-18) for their upcoming production of “ALiEN8.” Audition submissions should include the following: auditioner’s name and age, singing 16-32 bars of any song, as well as reading each audition scene as Ethan, Zach, Brasfield, and Ray Berry.
