Art House Productions, Jersey City's home for the performing and visual arts for the past 20 years, has announced a transition of the leadership of its board of trustees. The board has unanimously appointed Robinson Holloway to succeed Gibson as President.

Music Mountain, America's longest running summer chamber music festival, continues its 89th season with the St. Petersburg Piano Quartet, offering an afternoon of Beethoven and Brahms on Sunday, August 19 (3pm). First time guest Josh Lawrence & Color Theory fuse the blues and Afro-Cuban music on Saturday, August 18 (6:30pm)! Concerts are scheduled through September 23.

The George Gee Swing Orchestra opens the new expanded jazz showcase season at the Bickford Theatre in Morristown on Thursday, September 28. One of the most popular big bands in the world, the George Gee Swing Orchestra will appear for the first time at the intimate theatre. The concert begins at 7:30. The food truck picnic, which was extremely popular for Summer Jazzfest, will begin at 5:00 for those who want to enjoy some early fall tailgating. All seats for the concert are reserved and available online at www.morrismuseum.org or by phone at 973-971-3706.

The George Gee Swing Orchestra Takes a Swing at Kickstarter

As New York City bandleader George Gee says, ‚ÄúSwing Makes You Happy‚ÄĚ and that's the title of the George Gee Swing Orchestra's Kickstarter campaign to fund a double CD of new music. The campaign runs through December 12th on Kickstarter.com. When their goal is reached the recording process begins in New York and continues until the final CD is ready in May of 2014. Says Gee ‚ÄúThe GGSO is making this CD to honor the swingin' BIG BAND sound and its creators, as well as give voice to modern, yet eminently danceable compositions featuring the arrangements and original writing by the band's highly-regarded Music Director and Trombonist David Gibson.‚ÄĚ The band aims to record their new music and continue the tradition of swingin' big bands.

Eva Laporte directs the regional premiere of Rebecca Gilman's Dollhouse, a 2004 Goodman-commission adapted from Ibsen's A Doll's House. Set at the cusp of the economic downturn of the past decade, Gilman's Dollhouse explores the economy of a relationship in America. The play is particularly poignant in the after-math of the mortgage crisis and the continuing economic struggles in America.
