Coming to Straz Performing Arts Center, under the expert direction of Suzanne Livesay, Vice President of Education, 30 seventh through twelfth graders, Mackenzie Prince, Aaron Graham, Wren Livesay, Isabella Ferber, Will Wallace, Alondra Rios, Victoria Huerta, Quinten Hall, Ericca Leyva, Emily Patrick, Ryan Pope, Tristan Horta, Hathaway Miller, Dawson Snyder, Emma Oros, Emma Iannuzzi, Ben Avriett, Asia Folsch, Mara Gamson, Jazmine Jackson, Ben Avriett, Kennedie Clinton, Alexandra DeRousie, Asia Folsch, Mara Gamson, Brilee Gold, Emmerson Grabill, Quinten Hall, Tristan Horta, Jazmine Jackson, Ericca Leyva, Hathaway Miller, Jadon Milne, Samantha Money, Emma Oros, Sofia Oros, Emily Patrick, Ryan Pope, Zoe Priolo, Gabe Russe, Dawson Snyder, and Caroline Williamson star in the beloved classic story White Christmas on December 20.

It seems that the best things really do happen while you're dancing, or at least they do in the touring production of WHITE CHRISTMAS that's currently at DPAC. The musical is at its very best during its high-energy dance numbers. The show is based on the 1954 holiday classic film starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen. With music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, the show is a fun Christmas-themed romp with plenty of 1950s nostalgia, beautiful costumes, and great tap dancing. 

The LA Phil's Deck the Hall concerts feature performances by an eclectic array of artists who bring the joy of the holiday season to concert-goers during this special time of year. Featured holiday concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall are: the rich harmonies of Chanticleer (Dec 17); five-time Grammy®-winning jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves (Dec 20); the family-friendly fun of the annual Holiday Sing-Along (Dec 21); the heartwarming White Christmas Sing-Along (Dec 22); and twelve-time Grammy®-winning gospel singer CeCe Winans (Dec 23). Deck the Hall festivities culminate with two special New Year's Eve performances featuring superstar of screen and stage Kristen Chenoweth (Dec 31), and a New Year's Day celebration with beloved maestro Zubin Mehta and the LA Phil (Jan 1).

Irving Berlin's White Christmas opened Sunday night November 17 to a packed house at Theatre at the Center in Munster.  The cast gave a thrilling performance for an audience that was teeming with the holiday spirit.  Theatre at the Center Artistic Director Linda Fortunato directed and choreographed the show. 

Enjoy the holiday spirit with a full day of classic movies at Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater during the Holiday Film Fest on Saturday, December 7. Seth Bisen-Hersh and Mark Childers' musical, LOVE QUIRKS returns to NYC with an industry reading on Thursday, November 14th at 7:30PM and Friday, November 15th at 2PM at the Dramatists Guild Foundation's The Music Hall (356 W. 40th St., 2nd Floor).  

In 2008, Reverend Vernon Jackson's Religious Broadcasting Network in Lynchburg Va. presented 'The Gay No More Telethon'. The goal: raise money to turn as many homosexuals as possible straight by the rapture or the 2014 Winter Olympics. Whichever came first. But now with the trump administration, the Supreme Court and the GOP looking to undo several advances made by the LGBTQ community since then, Reverend Jackson has seen the error of his ways and is touring the country to apologize.

Broadway star Adam Pascal (the original Roger Davis in 'Rent') comes to Thousand Oaks to play flim-flam man Harold Hill in 5-Star Theatrical's new production of 'The Music Man,' which opens Oct. 18 at the Fred Kavli Theatre. Cary Ginell interviews Pascal about his approach to the show, which he has never seen on stage and has only seen Robert Preston's iconic film version once.

Eleanor's Very Merry Christmas Wish - The Musical, a new family-friendly holiday production, will debut at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, November 19 - December 29, 2019.

Mendacity and half-truths abound in the new, critically acclaimed musical solo work from internationally renowned pianist-singer, Mark Nadler. The Old Razzle Dazzle: An Evening of Lies, Lying and Liars will bow at the Laurie Beechman Theatre this fall on Wednesdays, Sept. 11th, 25th and Oct. 23rd at 7pm, and Oct. 30th at 9:30pm. Helen Hayes Award Winner BRIAN CHILDERS has spent the last twenty years receiving raves for his one man show 'An Evening with Danny Kaye' and starred off-Broadway as Danny Kaye in 'Danny and Sylvia: A Musical Love Story'. Brian will release his first studio album Life Unfurled independently in physical, digital and streaming formats on Thursday, October 17.

Her autobiographical play 18 Minutes of Fame has been a hit with both LA and New York audiences for a few years now and pro that she is, Minkus makes changes to it regularly. In our chat, she tells our audience how it got started, what she's done to improve it for the next remounting in July and how very much the show means to her. I have seen this wonderful show 18 Minutes of Fame 3 times, and marvel at how you change things each time you mount it. It's about your life from the time you were a little girl. Have you made specific changes for this new production in July? If so, what is different?

LAURA CHURCH MAKO, 102, of Beverly Hills, CA, died May 10, 2019, three weeks shy of her 103rd birthday. Laura Mae Church, born May 29, 1916 was a renowned interior designer and decorator for over 75 years.

The line between Broadway-type musical theatre and opera becomes finer by the year--though I dare say that TOOTSIE is unlikely to be showing up at the Met any time soon. But the Kurt Weill-Ira Gershwin-Moss Hart LADY IN THE DARK might have morphed in a slightly different, better piece of music theatre if it arrived in the 21st century rather than World War II.
