Now in its fourth year, Oye Group's annual showcase features radical artists turning up the volume on revolutionary imagination. This year, Cristina Pitter, Jaime Sunwoo, Drew Weinstein, Haleh Roshan, Teddy Tedholm and Animal Engine explore 'The Other,' with performances tackling queerness, colorism, body image, immigration, national and cultural identity, military invasions, colonialism and mental wellness. Led by Oye Group Artistic Director & Founder Modesto Flako Jimenez, and curated by Artem Yatsunov, OYE Avant Garde Night! connects emerging artists with community around the critical issues of our day. Written by Kevin Armento and Bryony Lavery, it is directed by Ianthe Demos and Nick Flint with movement direction by Natalie Lomonet. 59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to launch the 2018 Subscription Series with BALLS, written by Kevin Armento and Bryony Lavery and directed by Ianthe Demos and Nick Flint with movement direction byNatalie Lomonte. Produced by One Year Lease Theater Company and Stages Repertory Theatre,BALLS begins performances on Tuesday, January 16 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 25. Press Opening is Wednesday, January 24 at 7 PM. The performance schedule isTuesday Friday at 7 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 7 PM; and Sunday at 2 PM. We are proud to announce our third year of artists and venues. Performances will take place January 4-31 in partnership with 100 Bogart, The Brick, Chez Bushwick, The Glove, JACK, Loading Dock, The Parlour, Slipper Room, The Tank, Triskelion's Douglas Elliman Studio Theater and Muriel Schulman Theater and Vital Joint. Panels will take place on January 16 and 21 at The Bushwick Starr.
