GRAMMY Award-winning pianist/composer Arturo O'Farrill and Kabir Sehgal host 'An Evening of Fandango & Afro Latin Jazz' the weekend of Cinco de Mayo to feature compositions from O'Farrill's prolific new album Fandango at the Wall at Symphony Space on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4, 2019. Inspired by the Fandango Fronterizo Festival, O'Farrill and the 18-piece Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra recorded Fandango at the Wall with more than 60 musicians on the U.S.-Mexico border and in studio in New York City. At Symphony Space, O'Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra perform with special guest artists appearing on Fandango at the Wall, including violin virtuosos The Villalobos Brothers; Iraqi-American oud master Rahim AlHaj and his trio; Iranian tar virtuoso Sahba Motallebi; and a selection of son jarocho greats from Veracruz: Patricio Hidalgo, Ramon Gutierrez Hernandez, Fernando Guadarrama, Tacho Utrera, Wendy Romero, and Jorge Francisco Castillo (organizer of the Fandango Fronterizo Festival).

Stage West is pleased to announce the 10th annual Festival of the Kid performances, Monday through Wednesday May 6-May 8 in the Studio at Stage West.  This unique festival was originally conceived by Rob Bosquez, Jr. and Dana Schultes in 2009, and its first performance was presented in December of that year.  Their idea was simple: produce plays written by kids and use their peers as the performers.  Since that time, the Neighborhood Play Contest has drawn hundreds of entries, and has expanded to three days, with two performances each night.

Dear Evan Hansen's Mike Faist has been cast as Riff of the Jets  in Fox's Steven Spielberg West Side Story film, according to Deadline. Puerto Rican singer and dancer Ana Isabelle will play Rosalia, a shark who works with Maria and Dance Moms' Maddie Ziegler has been cast as part of the Jets. They have also cast  over 40 performers set as Sharks and Jets!
