Performances begin on Friday, November 13; opening Sunday, November 29, initially running through January 3, 2010 at The Actors' Playhouse.

Oakland Opera Theater, applauded by critics and audiences for its intimately staged, professionally produced performances of 20th and 21st century operas, will present audiences with a breathtaking look at celebrated composer Igor Stravinsky's masterpieces, L'HISTOIRE DU SOLDAT and RENARD: TALE OF THE VIXEN AND THE COCK. Originally penned in 1918 with a WWI setting, L'HISTOIRE DU SOLDAT ('A Soldier's Tale') will be reset in the Iraq War, providing a thoroughly modern take on this Faustian tale of a soldier who trades his violin to the devil in exchange for riches and power.

Controversial former Blue boyband member Lee Ryan will make his stage debut in 'The Pretender Agenda', a new play which will run at the New Players Theatre for five weeks from 28 August to 27 September 2008.

Oakland East Bay Symphony presents a concert version of Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman's Tony Award-winning Broadway hit Follies. On Saturday, May 3, a panel discussion on the themes of Follies will take place at the Veteran's Memorial Building on 200 Grand Ave.
