Over 450 alumni, donors and supporters gathered at St. Ann's Warehouse on Monday night for the NYU Tisch School of the Arts 2019 Gala, honoring notable alumni Susan Kelechi Watson and Sharon Chang. The event featured several performances by current Tisch students in tribute to the two honorees. Alec and Hilaria Baldwin and Martin Scorsese served as honorary co-chairs for the evening. In attendance were NYU Tisch Dean Allyson Green, NYU Provost Katherine Fleming, Grammy Award-winning music executive Clive Davis and Tony Award-winning actress Phylicia Rashad. Nearly $1 million was raised to support critical needs of talented Tisch students.
Turner Classic Movies Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Turner Classic Movies (TCM), considered throughout the industry as the definitive home of classic film and the leading authority on the genre, will celebrate its 25th anniversary on April 14th, 2019. Over the past 25 years, the iconic network has offered movie lovers cinematic treasures that highlight the entire spectrum of film history, uncut and commercial-free. To celebrate its silver anniversary, TCM will present an extensive on-air programming salute throughout the entire month of April showcasing popular programing from the TCM vault including six TCM originally produced specials such as Robert Osborne's Best of Private Screenings and Live From The TCM Classic Film Festival: Norman Lloyd, as well as airing double features of The Best of The Essentials. Additionally, the network will air a two-week special primetime tribute with 25 of TCM's biggest fans joining TCM Host Ben Mankiewicz as guest programmers with on-air dedications of their favorite films. The network will also launch an exclusive 25thanniversary merchandise collection featuring original archival artwork reflecting the legacy of TCM as well a commemorative 25thanniversary wine through the TCM Wine Club.

American soprano Denise Young will appear in recital, Wednesday evening, May 1, 2019, 7:30 pm at SubCulture (45 Bleecker St, New York, NY 10012). She will perform works from her 2018 album, Denise Young, Soprano, with pianist Daric V. Jackson, bassist Noah Garabedian, drummer Leon Joyce Jr., and vocals John James and Lajuan Carter-Dent. The program will include Songs of Form, co-composed by Ms. Young and pianist Thomas Nickell, featuring words of Ralph Waldo Emerson and James Baldwin, which just received its world premiere at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in April 2019.

Critically-acclaimed actors Andr Holland and Phylicia Rashad visit 92Y's Unterberg Poetry Center on Thursday, May 23 at 7:30 pm for a dramatic reading of Toni Morrison's new book, The Source of Self-Regard: Selected Essays, Speeches, and Meditations. The actors will read selections of the book curated by Morrison scholar and Columbia University professor Farah Jasmine Griffin, which 92Y has commissioned for the event.

The Smash and Scorpion actress will play her final performance on Saturday 15 June with new casting for the role of Jenna to be announced soon.
