Photo Flash: First Look at Tim Crouch's ADLER & GIBB at the Douglas

The American premiere of Tim Crouch's 'Adler & Gibb' will open tonight, Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at 8 p.m. at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre. The DouglasPlus production had one preview performance on January 17 and will run through January 29. A co-commission by Center Theatre Group and the Royal Court Theatre in London, 'Adler & Gibb' is written and directed by Crouch and co- directed by Andy Smith and Karl James. Photo Coverage: Theatrical Highlights At The National Museum of African American History

The National Museum of African American History and Culture is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. It was established by Act of Congress in 2003, following decades of efforts to promote and highlight the contributions of African Americans. To date, the Museum has collected more than 36,000 artifacts and nearly 100,000 individuals have become charter members. The Museum opened to the public on September 24, 2016, as the 19th and newest museum of the Smithsonian Institution.

NCTC Presents World Premiere of Jewelle Gomez's LEAVING THE BLUES

New Conservatory Theatre Center continues its 35th Anniversary celebration in March, proudly presenting the world premiere of Jewelle Gomez's Leaving the Blues, an NCTC commissioned play with music imagining the life of legendary Blues singer-songwriter Alberta Hunter (1895-1984). In the new play by the celebrated Gilda Stories' author, Hunter is backstage preparing for a professional comeback, knowing just how many doors to the past it may open. Spanning 60 years, Leaving the Blues imagines a journey through the public life Hunter led as an African-American musician, the private life she hid as a lesbian, and the ghosts that won't let her forget.

David will design a multi-floor installation in our New York headquarters, responding to the centuries of American history and craftsmanship on view. The Americana Week exhibitions open to the public today 11 January.
