A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, director Alexandra Spencer-Jones's electrifying, critically-acclaimed stage adaption of Anthony Burgess' 1962 literary masterpiece, has released photos and video of the play's New York Premiere production, opening Monday night, September 25, 2017 at New World Stages. The 16-week Off-Broadway engagement began previews at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) on Saturday, September 2, 2017 and will run through Saturday, January 6, 2018. Picking out the best of UK theatre over the past 12 months is a curious task - akin to judging avocado pears against conference pears, we're comparing like with like only in the broadest sense. So, with that necessary caveat, here are some of my nominations for the BroadwayWorld UK Awards 2017.

The cast of the hotly anticipated off-Broadway run of the stage adaptation of the classic novel, A Clockwork Orange, just met the press and BWW was there to take you inside the special day! The vibrant cast of young actors was on hand to dish about their new gig and let us in on some of their prep for the intensely physical piece, including a stunning six-hour callback that left many in shock (and even drove some to drink).

The musical, Floyd Collins, has just two weeks left of its run in the atmospheric East End gem, Wilton's Music Hall, with just 14 performances up until 15th October. The critically acclaimed musical, set in Kentucky in 1925, tells the extraordinary true story of a cave explorer who dreams of finding fame and fortune deep underground. When the unthinkable happens and he becomes trapped, it is a desperate race against time as Collins' friends and family fight to set him free and keep his spirits up through a dark and dangerous time. Above ground, his plight catches the eye of the local press, and as the days and weeks pass, the whole country is riveted by his story and the media circus that surrounds it.

Gary Naylor sees a remarkable tour-de-force that produces the definitive version of a tricky but utterly compelling piece of musical theatre.

Musical FLOYD COLLINS today announces its fantastic cast. It will star original Chicago cast member of Wicked Ashley Robinson as cave explorer Floyd Collins, with Rebecca Trehearn, fresh from the critically acclaimed West End production of Showboat, playing his sister Nellie Collins. Jack Chissick, who recently appeared in the 2016 Olivier Award-winning production of Gypsy in the West End, has been cast as Lee Collins, with Sarah Ingram as Miss Jane, whose West End credits include Oklahoma!, South Pacific, Martin Guerre and Flashdance.

Rehearsals began just last month for Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard at the English National Opera. Since then, star Glenn Close stopped by Graham Norton to chat about the production and revealed her hopes that it will lead into something more. She said, 'I'm hoping very much that this will lead directly to making a movie... this like a revving up. It's a very elaborate rehearsal.' Check out the full interview below!

Michael Xavier, Siobhan Dillon and Fred Johanson will join Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard, the second production in the partnership between English National Opera (ENO) and the GradeLinnit Company. 

Off-Broadway's award-winning Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director and Ciaran O'Reilly, Producing Director) proudly presents their annual holiday offering, this year a revival of Dylan Thomas's classic A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES.  Adapted and directed by Charlotte Moore, A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES features two-time Tony Award-winner John Cullum.   Performances begin Tuesday, November 24th, 2015.  The Press Opening is now Sunday, December 6th.
